This outfit was formed in 1998 as a direct result of our first American exchange with the Nevada Union High School. The NUHS Symphonic Band also held within its' ranks a full big band line-up. We thought it would be a great idea for us to the same, and so the PYJazz came into life.

Since their inception in that year PYJazz has been featured at such regular yearly engagements as the St Ives September Festival and Mazey Day in Penzance, as well as numerous local engagements.
All the musicians are current members of Penzance Youth Wind Band, and although the personnel changes yearly the standard remains high, with many of the players also attending Cornwall Youth Jazz Orchestra.
The repertoire contains a mixture of standards and original charts as well as many past and recent favourites arranged for big band.
