Hi, all you percussionists out there, I'm Andy Bilham, Team Leader for Percussion and also webmaster here at cornwallmusicservice.com I have recently received an email from Elite Percussion who have launched a new website aimed at percussionists and drummers - click on the logo below to go to their site: Many thanks to Zena Marie Walker, one of the County Music Service Percussion teachers, for passing on these couple of sites. First www.sessiondrummer.co.uk/ which has some great downloadable lessons and video clips. Secondly, possible the best ever drummer's website www.drummerworld.com which has information on any drummer you can mention, and a whole lot more besides. To find more video clips, you really ought to try www.youtube.com and search for drum videos - there's a huge selection to choose from, and from every conceivable style and country of the world. Here's a trio of examples - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4oLvH4Fz_Y - this is a man busking in Washington DC, using paint tubs and an old dustbin. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puUM2IEkLN4 - here's a 10 year old American boy performing after (reputedly) only 3 months of lessons. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAKLfYkfe7g - A drum battle with a difference! 2 Drums sections from American Drum Corps bands face up to each other and play some great grooves and show off their virtuosic technique. Also, check out this link to a stunning video of drum machine virtuosity!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbReYWXSyjA&search=alvin%20mills On a more serious note, those of you planning to enter the first round of the new Trinity Guildhall Drum Kit exams in the Spring Term 07 may find this useful. Ross Hamilton, one of the Music Service Percussion Teachers, has devised this information sheet which will assist you in learning the answers to the General Musicianship questions about the drum kit required for your exams. Click here to access this sheet: please keep checking, it will be constantly updated as new information is collated by your Percussion teachers. Finally, if there's anything you would like to see here or share with other percussion students, please email me and let me have some details so I can pop it on the page for others to see. |
